C270 CDI lemon?

Friend of mine has recently bought himself a Mercedes C270 CDI Avantgarde saloon on a 52-plate and is having no end of problems with it breaking down all the time and having to get recovered home on a truck. No-one seems to know what's wrong with it but AA thinks it might be a fuelling issue. Does anyone here have any knowledge or experience of this model? Any known issues? Thanks.

My old man had 2003 a CLK 270 CDI that shat itself around the 120-130k mark. The Mercedes assistance van was a regular at our house. I vaguely remember it being issues with fueling.

Any more info? Shirley on a Merc specific sub-forum here someone must know about these particular engines and weaknesses?
