Looks excellent in red and with those wheels.

Popped into my local dealer today and they had one sat there for sale at £148k. How common are they as I presumed that they would be special order only?

Yeah, that must be a cancelled order! The dealer probably took too much of a liberty with the part exchange insult and p*ssed off the customer (it nearly happened to me!)

Mine is the 5th in the country allegedly (and the only red one so far).

Where is the dealer in question?

John Weir, Dundee.

It was the predictable Silver and had wood trim like yours - can you get the AMG silver inserts instead? Mind you I find that these look very cheap compared with the metal finish on my S4. On my SL500, I had black wood which looked very nice against the black(ish) leather.

What's it like in the wet? The car that is not the wood!

Looks cracking Mr Gixer sir...

But if I may be so bold as to levy one minor criticism.. The ride height..

I may be completely wrong here, but in the side profile shots, it looks like it sits a little too high...

With all of the adjustability that the car provides, does it allow for adjustable ride height?

Stunning car. Just been reading the Autocar feature on the AMGCLK... the big Mercs definitely have something about them.

I know in the SL500 there is a button next to the gear stick that adjusts ride height to two higher than normal settings. Useful for harsh roadhumps, driving thorugh deep puddles etc. I would imagine the SL65 would have a similar system.

The interior trim was a point of much discussion, as the 65 can only be ordered with a choice of two wood finishes (not the carbon fibre of the New York show car, grrrrr), or the disgusting designo crud. I think the SL55 plastic metal thing was pretty nasty, but better than wood.

Having taken delivery of the car, the wood is actually quite nice.

.........I'll leave quietly!

The car runs on Bridgestone RE050A tyres and is very well behaved in the wet.

I agree. The SL55 used to sit a bit like that too (but it was black so didn't show up as much). The ABC is working and the air suspension is set to its lowest position. I reckon the struts need to wear in or something. DMS can reprogramme the ABC to make it sit lower, but I think I'll keep it stock....

Might get rid of that pesky limiter though....

Thanks. I like the colour!

Managed to get the speedo reading 205 mph and it was still pulling...

Same day at brunters (Vmax) it went through the mile and quarter timing lights at 187mph (and amazingly the speedo read exactly the same)

Rob at DMS, you are a genius....

Phatgixer, good to meet up at V Max. That SL 65 has enormous cojones, and I reckon you must have a matching pair. Power to your gas foot young man.
