C63 went into odd mode when low on fuel

Maybe I should RTFM but I drove home the other day about halfway into the reserve fuel. Turned the car off for a few minutes as I popped into the house to get something and then started it up again to go somewhere else. The trip computer said 21miles to go (so it hadn't got to the refuel warning). When I drove off it felt different, it was more eager to upshift and less eager to downshift even with a footfull of throttle. Tried changing from C to S and it wouldn't so I looked down at the map switch and it wasn't lit at all so I couldn't change gearbox mode. A few miles later I stopped at a petrol station and brimmed it. Turned it on again and the map switch was lit (in C) and I was able to change mode again.

Is this a documented mode/failsafe?

How many litres did ou put in when u filled it? Feel the orange light comes on way to early. Did 285 miles on one run coming up from england. Fuel guage did not even give me a reading just a petrol pump sign. Never noticed if i could engage sport modes but put in 56ltrs so still had 10 left even though i was under the impression i was about to run dry.

10 litres remaining after 285 miles is some impressively light-footed work! My best is 284 miles from a tank, followed by putting 63.8 litres back in. Not much left there!!

Didn't realise these had such a small tank. I suppose it's all about saving weight, but I would have thought that an 80-85 litre capacity would have been better for a car with this engine.

Not really ghibbett! Just filled up in kendal, short drive to motorway and cruise control set to between 70-80 (kmh of course) with some overtaking blasts now and then, all the way to aberdeen. Around town its usually 185-200 before refuel.

It was far from empty, I stuck in less than 60l. Needle read around 1/8 of a tank left (e.g. halfway into orange which comes on at just under 1/4 tank).
