Hi guys I'm new to PH, this being my forst post, it's really interesting to see what people have wrote and to see photos of their cars so thought id join I! Had my C220 coupe (AMG sport) for about 3 weeks now and so far it's great.

I didn't expect much of the engine in terms of performance but for a 2 litre diesel it's alot quicker than I anticipated, saying that I have just come from a 1.4 litre fiesta.

On balance it's a lovely car could be a little more refined, but a realistic version of my dream car (c63 coupe) which at 21 I can't get insured on and if I could I'm sure the fuel costs would bankrupt me haha.

Would be interesting to hear from other C class owners what it's like living with the car, and from other MB owners is there anything I should be careful or weary about with this marque.

Prabs.

First welcome to the form and good to hear you are happy with your new purchase. I've owned quite a few MB's over the years, but then I am 3 times your age! I currently have a C350 CDI and a V8 SL and would say that whilst the 'hewn from solid' reputation of Mercedes Benz is a distant memory, they are still generally well built cars for a large volume manufacturer. My last two new purchases of every day cars have been exceptionally reliable, not requiring even 1 single warranty claim on either car over 6 years and 64000 miles, so promising for the future. Worst MB I owned was a W210 E Class built during the bad years of body corrosion and electrical glitches about 12 years ago, but having said that, it actually never let me down.
My SL is very much a weekend toy with fairly limited usage, so I don't really expect too many problems with that to be honest.
As with all cars, there are some problems which can crop up occasionally, but in my experience, these are few.
I hope your ownership experiences are as positive as mine.
Thanks for the reply, sounds like Theres not much to worry about in terms of build quality hopfully my experiene as an MB drive will be as positive as yours!

Im on my second W204. 1st a C320CDI, swapped for a C250CDI AMG sport +. 1st the AMG bit is now just trim.

Excellent car - quick quiet, a bit rougher with the i4 rather than the v6 - roughly the same performance but 25% less diesel. Good build quality, no rattles or breakdowns.

Also have an SLK250, for 6 years, and that has been faultless - routine servicing, nothing else.

Welcome and good choice as the W204 is a lovely looking thing.

I've had my C350 Sport for nearly a year now, love it. Plenty of power and the Hardon Kardon sound system is just perfect. My twins love going for journeys in it and the double buggy fits in the back no problem. I've got the panoramic glass sunroof so it is lovely and light in the cabin.

Want to swap it for a C64 Estate next year if the missus doesn't notice that is....

Looks good! Just out of interest have you compared the harmon kardon system to the standard one? Initially I regretted not choosing then HK system but on delivery I was more than impressed with te standard system, it was not far off the Bang and Olufsen system a friend has in his a5.

They are great cars just one little negative with my coupe is the breaks aren't very strong, yes it's a heavy motor but I think MB should have up rated the break system, apart from that great cars!

Nope I didn't compare as I was only actually looking for a 350 with SatNav. Luckily mine came with all the toys and now wouldn't get another with out it as the sound is so good.

I actually find the brakes really good (way way better than my BMW 330xi). Do you have vented disc brakes with AMG calipers as mine are on the front?

My front calipers are perforated and have 'Mercedes Benz' on them not sure if necessarily ventilated though?

Will the car being an I4 over a V6 not weight a bit less and turn in to a corner a bit more keenly?
