if its a w202 c class check the steering box is not leaking oil and no play in the drag link
and suspension arm bushes/balljoint. make sure any of the digital display on the instrument cluster is fully working and that all other electrics work, including key remotes das2/early type, das3/late type
and make sure the aircon works
always check the wiper as the boss in the centre has a mechanism which can break and is exspensive to replace. if its the early compressor engine check the magnetic clutch on the charger pully cuts in-just under 2000 rpm they are generally bullit proof listen out for rattles, and check for oil leaks around head gasket area
always buy an auto and make sure the g/box operates correctly and doesnt bang in to gear
check the diff to see if it is leaking
make sure all the warning lights work and they all go out when running.
watch out for rattly cats as they tend not to rattle when cold and can in extreme cases be sucked into the engine on over run .

w203 c class has a steering rack rather than box
but check the anti roll bar bushes are ok and the droplinks, the front lower arm bushes are prone to wearing quickly, make sure all the central locking is operating correctly and boot release as this can be symptoms of the rear sam control module playing around
hope this helps
