I ran one for a couple of years, got early 30's on a run, interior trim can be a bit flimsy, center consol switch bank had to be replaced as did the inlet manifold due to a faulty motor that controls some inlet flaps, apart from that was very reliable.
cheers for that.any 4x4 issues with it?
Had a '52 plate that was spec'd to the max AMG, Designo, Command etc and to be honest when it worked it was great but it didnt work very often, wouldn't recommend and anytime anything went on it it cost a fortune to repair. Most expensive thing that went, steering rack.
For something of that age I'd go Japanese or X5, much better car to drive and more reliable.

Had an 02 plate ml270 for about 3 years, got it when it was 6 months old, it was a 7 seater and was a great car, much better reliability than the discovery I replaced it with.
BUT, the guy I sold it too contacted me about 2 years down the line with a query about some bodywork repairs that had been carried out after I scrapped the side down a gate post and it turned out that the paint was going in certain places and rust was appearing. I think I'm right in saying it's a known problem and I know he had the whole car resprayed.
