Too many pedals?

I'm thinking about buying a 2010 E Class and the model I am looking at has a six speed manual gearbox.
With the handbrake operated by a pedal to the left of the clutch, are there likely to be any issues while attempting the likes of a steep hill start?
I've not used this combination of pedals before and feel that the additional pedal might be a step too far!

Yes it will make for difficult hill starts but can be mastered. It will be very difficult to resell too. People expect an auto in an E class. I would avoid.

Had a number of Mercedes over the years but never a manual one. I've always thought the pedal operated handbrake would be fiddly for hill-starts.

Surely though, the issue isn't the pedal actuation, its the release mechanism which is, basically, on or off?

Driven a C Class manual. It is possible, the release is hand operated so you find the biting point as normal and then release.

It's fiddly though, if you need to stop again you have to clutch and brake, then select neutral so you can use your clutch foot to apply parking brake, then back on clutch, back into gear, ready to go again.

You're really supposed to have an auto.

Was getting right on my nerves after a load of stop/start multi drop type driving.

I have a 2012 c lass (auto - not sure if its different for the manual but i would imagine its the same?) and its got hill start assist so wont roll back on a hill anyway it just applies the brakes and releases them when you pull away.

be aware that E class manual pedals are very offset .. the clutch is almost in the center line of the driver's seat ..

plus of course, it will be worthless second hand, as manual E class Mercs are as desirable as herpes

It does seem that the manual version is a poor move, so, I have now abandoned the plan and will have a look at an auto instead.

we had a 250D C class manual
good on fuel
awful at anything involving handbrake
got rid ASAP
after the mistake was made in getting it.

I find it odd that Merc charge extra for an auto box.
It should be the other way round.

Don't most (if not all) W204s and W212s have hill-hold fitted to alleviate this? Agree buying a manual one is a mistake though and will result in a very poor resale value!
