Would be grateful for some info if poss.

Just looked at a 2010 E63 AMG saloon at a dealer. Its silver with performance pack, command, HK sound with 15k miles. Its up for just under £47k and looks to be one of cheapest in country at the merc dealers. Apparently just been reduced aswell.

What discounts should I be getting on this type of car in this climate? Any experiences recently?

Are there any essential options for these cars?

Whats the merc warranty like, I am used to BMW's?

Were these 6.2 cars available much before 2010 as not really seen any on the net?

Any good sources of info on the 6.2 car, all the official websites no changed over to the twin turbo new car?

Using a crystal ball, any feelings on value in 2-3 years, they seem to hold value well and as not many around officially it seems supply pretty limted also?

Many thanks

I went for a 2011 E63 AMG ( 11 plate) Estate about 2 months ago with all the toys. Car had about 10k mile and got it for £57k. Its 6.3 (6.2)

Was advertised on at £63k and I asked them to match the lowest price car similar car in the country and to my suprise they did ! and thus I bought it.

The other dealers with similar cars were around the £60 mark some higher a few down to £57 but none lower but not so good spec in the car. I followed the prices for about 4 months on E AMG's before I bought and was happy that I got a good deal.

You never 'win' on cars but I got a good exchange price and the car has been great - better then my expectations. Took a month to get into the swing of how it handles and enjoying the drive each day even more.

If you can get one at £47k 2010 depending on the kit, it sounds like a good deal. Haggle with some other dealers perhaps with higher kit and see if they will match the £47 price. As said they did with me.

When you day high spec, what do you include in that? I cant seem to find much info on internet about spec, options, price of options etc and now e63 changed engine the specs are different.

The car i viewed had command, TV, heated and cooled seats, AMG performance pack, sunroof.

i've got a '10 (60 plate black E63 wagon) - paid £58k in jan this year for 7k miler ex MB management car with every extra except rear entertainment package and ceramic brakes. which seemed decent at the time (it was advertised for £60k). i think given the current climate you can afford to name your price and sit until they match it. there are a few for sale presently i believe.

the MB warranty seems very good - the top mounts in the front suspension were creaking so they put some shims in the shocks and checked the bushes and tightened everything up which is a 5 hour job and it was done without question at MB Brooklands, not where i bought the car. the car will be still under it's new car warranty anyway, so belt and braces covers everything bar consumables i guess.

the spec when new includes command, but the other items you mentioned are options. the most desirable options to me were the full leather (with alcantara headlining, really lifts the interior) and slippy diff. the rest i could take or leave to be honest.

great car by the way, best super saloon i've owned (prefer it to M5, RS6, XF-R etc).

Its was the useful info Seawise and other on this forums kindly gave before I jumped into the E AMG fold which swung me away from a DB9. To say the car grows on you is an understatement. Another poster said to me its one of the most 'complete' cars they have ever owned. I would agree with that. Love the adjustable suspension. That was the cream for me. The sound of the 6.3 is wonderfull.

Spec wise, LSD and performance pack, rear entertainment, command thingy - 3 yr nav updates, something to do with lights. Cant remember.

Has more things than I have time to play with or need tbh. Kids love the rear dvds. we love that the kids love the rear dvd - quiet.

i'm averaging over 20 mpg in mine - shameful, must try harder.... such a great car, a debadged unshowy estate with the SLS supercar engine, proper Q car.

Thanks guys. Looks like the car I drove is a good price and decent spec then. Will check up on the exact spec though. I really dont like paying full price for this osrt of car so looks like I need to start haggling!

I was very impressed on the test drive, quite different to my outgoing BMW E60 M5 but just as fast and lovely noise!

I had the e39 M5 a few yrs back then into 996tt's and the E63 AMG fits the bill very well for my needs and driving wants. Did consider the M5 but as there is no estate now plus the AMG has the noise and its nice to drive somehting you dont see often. See a fair M5's down my way but rare to see any AMG let alone a E63.

Payed just under £46k. Its iridium silver with black leather. Will post pics when it arrives. Lovely noise! Just as fast as my old E60 M5 but much better ride and much better autobox.

you'll be very happy - it's a much better all rounder than the E60 and much more engaging to drive than the F10 M5 in my opinion. nice spec too.

Has anyone got a good contact for insurance?

Just had quote form mercedes (so i can have the 7 day insurance) of £670ish which seems pretty good.

I have previously used Keith Michaels in Surrey initially for subaru but always stayed with them for the M5 etc but a pain to get to speak to anyone so thought I might go elsewhere.

Thanks
