C63 Estate - real world mpg
Discussion
Hi All,
Do to the sale of an M5 Touring few months ago, I have tried a C63 Estate recently and been almost won over... Also the leasing deals have now fallen in line with the saloon prices, so over 2 years might be able to get it to work. However, just wanted to find out from current owners what the actual fuel consumption is. The M5 was pretty horrific, full tank / £90 of Shell V-Power disappearing well within 200 miles on average weekly commute. I know what the official figures are but can anyone give me an example of how much £'s a C63 takes to fill and on "average" what mileage can you see from a full tank?
Cheers

In the 1200 miles i have had mine it says i have averaged just over 18mpg and thats with a few long runs, not much town driving and not really ragging it around
It is around £90 to fill up with V Power if its bone dry and i have yet to get to 250 miles before i chicken out and fill up again

Had mine almost 2 years and 17000mes.
The tank is pretty small so 200 miles per tank is about the best you will get. It is £80-£90 to fill it up but I use Tesco 99 or V-Power which is a little more.
Best I have had is 24.3mpg on a gentle motorway pootle, worst is 6.3mpg on the track. Factor in a typical motorway morning is stop-start on the M25 and 16mpg is the norm.
The trouble is, I just cannot resist putting my foot down.
Buy one and if you have to do serious miles then get a cheap Passat TDI beater.

PS you will be lucky to see 7000miles out of a set of rear tyres too!

Took an estate out at the weekend, and loved it. It feels easier to drive than the M5, when you are just pootling about, mainly as there is no SMG gearbox to deal with. Possibly not as fun when the roads/traffic allow but close, and the noise is simply electrifying. I was naively hoping and praying that although its a 6.2, that new engine technology etc might lead to better consumption, however having had the car for a day and driven a mixture of roads totalling 90 miles it appears to drink fuel as quickly as the M5. Its not really even about the money, its really the hassle of having to refuel so often. Just waiting to hear back from a few lease companies on final quotes with 19" alloys, but keeping the car as standard. I think I'm sold, convincing my wife on another super estate might be another matter.

I've done 50,000 miles in our C63 estate in 26 months.
The average over the entire period has been 19.8mpg
Rear tyre wear as noted is also quite heavy. You need to budget for a new set every 5-7000 miles. Fronts last about 20-22000 miles.
You must be averaging about £200/mth on tyres! The average over the entire period has been 19.8mpg

I'd consider sticking with the 18" wheels. They do ride a fair bit better. And are a lot easier to clean..It works out about £150 per month in rubber for the mileage we do. Yes, some of them are sideways
