C320 Vs E320, which one is best?

This is for my friend at work. He has 8k to spend and wants a Mercedes diesel auto.

Which one of the two mentioned will be more reliable and give the best "Mercedes experience". Seem to see a lot of taxi drivers using the E class, so I'm assuming that's the better car?

What mpg abd servicing costs can he expect?

C class is smaller than the E class hence taxi drivers like them....same engines in both though (later became 350 cdi)

Tell him to drive both and see what he prefers. £8k is going to get you an older or higher mileage car.
