I have just bought a 2003 SLK320. The radio\CD handbook is missing and I am having trouble with the radio. Am I corect in assuming the aeriel is integrated into the rear window, and if so does theis work satisfactorily with the roof open ? I recently took a trip and had constant crackling on both AM and FM even though the roof was closed. Maybe the radio is stuffed. Is this model notorious for having dodgy radios?

It's in the back bumper - could have got dislodged somehow.

Mine was ok for the 12 years I had my slk (although I only listen to radio 4 so no idea about other stations...)

It's more likely to be the wire between the headunit and the aerial than either of those two things.

Thanks for your comments, but I've just been out to look at the car and I'm stumped......I can't se any sign of an aeriel or any sign of there ever being one on the car. Tis a puzzlement ! spose the best thing is to phone Merc dealer and seeif they can shed any light on it. Thanks for trying.

You can't see it: it is within the bumper, under the cover. It's there all right.
