Face lift C63 vs original

Hi All,

I'm after some advice on the above and am in the market for a C63.

It seems that early 2011 cars are around the £42k - £44k mark for one with the spec I am after, and later 2011 / 2012 cars (post face lift) are around £52k. I prefer the interior of the newer car, and I gather that the gearbox is better as well.

My question is which of the two options is likely to retain the most value over say 2 years. I know that this is hardly an investment purchase, but my sense is that depreciation will be around £20k on each over that period. What do we think?

Also, I was planning on being a cash buyer, but I have noticed a lot of talk about good lease deals. Are these still available? If so, where?

I specifically wanted Performance Pack Plus and LSD, so face-lift cars were £55k+. I ended up buying a 2011 '11' plate with PPP, LSD and Drivers Pack, along with lots of other goodies like DAB etc for £41k from a Merc AMG dealer. List price of my car was about £68k 14 months ago.

Yes, the interior is better on the facelift car. Yes, the gearbox is faster. But £14k difference.....

How much was you car advertised for, if you don't mind me asking? £41k sounds good value. The 11 plate PPP cars I have seen are closer to mid-40s.

I don't mind the £14k difference so much, if that difference remained come sale time. I can't see that happening, so I am inclined to agree. After all, I'm buying the car for the engine.

I'm hoping to get DAB as I had that in my M3. Do you know if the Harmann Kardon is worth it?

facelift has the MCT 7 speed transmission .. C63 owner on mbclub who had a pre facelft and now has the facelift reckons MCT is miles better

Had same dilemma last year, old or new car? I was lucky enough to get the perfect brand new facelift saloon on Dec 31st. Got 10k off, negotiated Mercedes Benz finance on what I wanted to pay.

My car does not have PPP but does have LSD, this is essential in my opinion where PPP is not. The new interior and gearbox are superb and miles better than before. My driving style is pottering in comfort or flat out in manual, S & S+ don't feature in my routine. Listen to what Chris Harris has to say about the gearbox.....

I cant recommend the car highly enough. Mine has full interior and exterior carbon, palladium silver, DAB and silver 19" wheels. It is the essence of understated aggression and very classy. Perhaps I'm getting older but i just feel more special in a C63 than previous BMW M cars. Ive just sold a CSL that Id spent around 40k modding over 8 years for track work so praise for a 63 doesn't come any higher.
