New car for my wife CLK 320 or 240/Coupe or Convertible?

We are going to change my wife's 1999 Boxster and she was minded to go for a SLK (she had a 320 for 4 years and loved it).
I have spent a few hours on the internet and found some lovely specced CLKs.
Any thoughts/ownership experiences (I am aware of some Mercedes build quality issues durin the late 90s - e.g. inner rear arch and boot lock corrosion), but I think by 2002 onwards things were better?
For example (budget up to £6,500 looking at cars under 80,000 miles, trade purchase):
2003 '03' 320
2003 '03' 240
2003 '03' 230K
The coupe would be a facelifted model but the convertible would be pre-facelift.

My wife has a 2003 CLK (500) Convertible.
We bought it several years ago with very low miles (6K) - I think it had been sat in the dealers (non-MB)for almost a year.
When we first got it we had problems with the hood and it went to Jacksons (MB Poole) 5 times for various sensor/microswitch changes before it became reliable.
Also have had to replace 2 catalysts in exhaust.
I guess the long period of activity could be blamed for all of the above.
Have also got intermittent probs with electric seat adjustment and rear brake light (in boot lid) fell off!
Currently no sign of any rust and it lives outside.
Have had 4 MB services inc new front brakes. No mechanical issues yet (touch wood).
My wife still enjoys the car very much.
