I have just part exchanged my Subaru Legacy for a '56 plate E500 estate sight unseen over the phone. I feel a change of username is going to be required.
Great choice. I've been running the pre-facelift 300-and-a-bit bhp 5.0 for the last two years and really love it.The facelift is by all accounts a great car.
Let us know how you get on.

I am back home with a smile on my face. The car is fantastic. There are a some bits that need touching up but nothing you wouldn't expect on a five and half year old car.
It drives great and I am a happy boy!
Yey! Glad you are happy - as per the other posters, keep us updated. It drives great and I am a happy boy!

As requested, an update and some decent photos after a proper wash, polish and wax this afternoon.
The weather was decent so I really wanted to get rid of the polish residue left by one of the valeters at the dealer - rather unhelpfully, he left the polish on the car overnight so made it nigh on impossible to remove - the guy charged with the task on my collection of the car was cursing his colleague's laziness.
Anyway, without further ado: -

I know my mats are filthy - that is merely three days of crud which bearing in mind the recent weather isn't too bad.
The leather isn't nearly as shiny as it looks in the photos and is good quality and quite thick. The seats are super comfy as well.
Initial driving impressions is that it glides along on the air suspension - think big Citroen and you are pretty close. Turn the suspension into sport mode and it hunkers down and gets on with the job. It isn't the last word in handing by any stretch of the imagination but it corners much better than a car of this size and weight has any right to.
The gearbox is seamless in its changes in comfort mode and won't change down unless absolutely necessary and just uses the engine's massive amount of torque to glide along. It is quick to respond in sport mode and although you don't get a massive sensation of travelling quickly due to the ride and refinement the horizon starts getting close very quickly!
I have installed a bluetooth dongle and it already has an auxiliary input and the latest map update for the navigation. I have ordered a touch up stick - the colour is "Periclase Green" in case you were wondering and I need to order another key when I get the logbook back from the DVLA. My plate is going on the car ASAP and I should be able to do this in a couple of days.
So far, I really like the car. It is fantastic being able to glide about relatively insulated from what is going on outside.
