Got a CLK with the merc factory fitted phone kit, but the cradle only takes the older nokia handset. I now have the 6310i handset So I guess need a new cradle. Merc are saying "start again"!! anyone know how to change the cradle for a 6310i, or bluetooth upgrade? without paying the price of a new car!!

We had this on my fathers 99 S-class.

Replacement batteries were not availble for the old style Nokia handset so we bought another handset (a 6310i). Called the garage to say we need a new cradle to fit in the car and booked it in. Ended up paying for a new cradle and connector cable but the expensive bit was the software which the garage ended up paying themselves. We argued that it can't be right when you pay £1,000 or so for an integrated car telephone kit on an £80k car that you should throw it all away after 3 years because you can't get batteries for it. We argued we shouldn't be paying another £250+ Vat for the software as we had paid for software in the car already so why should we pay for an additional software license.

We were quite generous in paying for the cradle and cable I thought! Even more generous not charging them for the new 6310i either!!

I would go built in Bluetooth. The phone just sits there and automatically connects. Works well and is far less visable.

Paul.

Hi Paul, your car must be ancient if doesn't recognise a 6310i, why don't you just buy a new CLK, afterall you must be raking it in.

P.S. Have you changed the spark plugs yet?

Same problem on brand new Mercs. They are always so far out of date that its not worth speccing the factory phone - better to retro instead. Audis' just as bad. You think that they would be more in touch with telephony NPD.

My little toy is ready and willing... you will need to get that poofta speed limiter taken off, I will be changing gear into 5th at 155!!

Why would you be going 155mph - late for work at the salon perhaps? Why did you buy a hairdressers car?

(BTW the Audi's got 4.2 litres - furthermore it has two exhausts whereas your hairdryer has only one!)
