Hi All

I have a series of KML Files downloaded from a website that show specific routes abroad - that I intend to follow on a forthcoming road trip.

I am a bit stuck on how to then transfer them to be able to be used ideally in Apple Maps or alternatively on Google Maps. Again, ideally on Apple CAr Play, but should that not be feasible, then on my iphone.

I have downloaded the maps from here: https://www.drivingroute66.com/route-66-maps/ (and they are the KML files) and have downloaded MyRouteApp - but would like something a bit cheaper - seeing £150 for life time membership is a bit extreme for me.

Also have seen this from previous threads - https://www.lifewire.com/make-custom-route-on-goog... which I can get into tonight but looking to the masses here for any other simplistic ideas.

Like I said, prefer Apple Maps - and assume they will work the same as downloaded maps normally do - considering some of the areas we are going will be lacking a mobile signal!

Thanks everyone.

Assuming you have a google account, I think if you log in on a PC you can import the KML map directly. I think it will then also appear on you phone if you are logged in to google maps.
Thanks Vaud.

Yeah this was as I thought. However unless I am doing it wrong, when getting it set up in the car, it reverts to best route, rather than the one I chose and specified. I can only imagine that I don't have enough way points to dictate the route.

However, I have got the app Route 66 Navigation working - cost me $35 but has the turn by turn route 66 navigation built in ... now I will only know if this will work properly when I am in Chicago - but it is looking promising.

Seems to be a function missing from both Apple and Google maps - I wonder if the boffins will bring it in eventually?
