Hi All,

Getting totally f**ked off with Three mobile broadband, it's a pile of sh*te.

Looking to get proper broadband install. Got a landline with a dial tone, however it's not connected.

What's better out of the mentioned ?

Cheers

Sunil

PS Can't get cable as I live on a private road and the b'stard residents don't want to dig up the road.

Have heard very very very rubbish things about Sky Broadband. My bil has just got it and he concurs, rubbish!

I have BT broadband and it's been faultless for 2 years (well apart from having to turn the homehub off and on a couple of times). Don't know about BT Vision, don't use it.

BT have signed up to Phorm so if you want everything you ever search for tracked and then bombarded with ads go for it.

Go with Be broadband if you can; Despite thier initial confusion at me wanting two accounts and both with the same broadband at different addresses they are consistently very fast and extremely reliable.

Only on an opt-in service though. If you opt-out then they cannot do this. Phorm have also agreed to work with Talk Talk and Virgin Media - so its not just BT.

How small with the fine print be for that bit?

Besides I spent years ridding PCs of that crap when it was considered malware so I won't sign up to anyone with it on principle.

We've got Sky BB. Haven't had a single problem with it over the last 2 years or so.

We have Sky broadband and for what amounts to a freebie (as an add on to Sky talk and TV) it's damned good. Not the fastest on the planet, but for web browsing and music it's fine. Never had a problem with it.

Just signed up with O2 broadband (not mobile). 8 meg line, no download limit.

£2.50 a month.

No, I really mean £2.50 a month. It is amazing what a call to customer retention can do smile

It isnt considered to be Malware and doesn't run on your PC. All must be done with the expressed knowledge and support of your ISP. Dynamically profiles you and adjusts your ads based on what it thinks you want / need. Cue a flurry of web browser plug-in's that blur what you are doing and what you are browsing...

I know it doesn't run on your PC I meant I spent years ridding PCs of the crap they used to make that did run on your PC.

Anyhow I will cancel my broadband if they use it.

Its on a opt-in basis, so if they do introduce it, you should be fine. You would have to positively act to opt-in, so you should be fine. Though I have to say, I am not sure how this would hold up against a contract. Say you sign up for 12 months but find out that your privacy is being compromised. I wonder if you can hold this up as a breach of contract and hence exit the agreement? I guess it depends on many different circumstances and the process they use to get you to opt-in.

Interesting times. Though its good to see that many of the best ISP's in this country (as in best for customer service and etc) are still NOT the big boys and pride themselves on what they can do. You pay a few quid for the privilege, but they will keep clear of these types of things if it keeps customers. Though there is big money with this type of thing and maybe the "mighty dollar" will talk louder. Who knows, but we have got to expect more and more of these types of things.

Another vote for Sky here but I'm on their LLU service NOT Sky Connect. I've heard bad things about Sky Connect but the LLU has been faultless so far.

I have orange BB, Came cheap with my mobile contract, no issues with it and runs at a decent speed, BT Vision on the other hand unless a lot of changes have been made is not a very good system, the idea is great, but in practice has had a lot of failiures.

I have worked for BT with this system, so speak from experiance.

That said I think there were a handful of happy customers.

I do hate Virgin Media but there Broadband service is fantastic, and they have upgraded my package for free over the years. It started out as 5Mb line, and Virgin have upgraded me to 18Mb line.

Sky here 2.5 meg down but am 5.5km from exchange so I consider myself lucky to get this.
Pay for top package £10/month and am never off the thing.
