Webcam problem with Messenger - please help!

We tried to have a webcam conversation with inlaws overseas, using Messenger plus. (Both parties have Windows XP).

However, whilst we can see each other - we can hear them but they can't here us! Any ideas?

There's a mic built into our webcam and we also tried using a separate USB mic. No luck.

Is the problem likely to be at their side or ours? Maybe they don't have a fast enough internet connection, so it only allows video and the voice gets squeezed out. We've got BT Broadband.

Could it have something to do with our firewalls? (I doubt it)

You havent got your mic input muted by any chance have you?

...I'll check that the mic isn't muted! Thanks for the suggestion guys.

Will feel like such a wally if that's the problem!! Will let you know what happens.
