New problem!

XP workstation can see W2K server and enumerate the shares. When clicking on a share explorer hangs, sometimes returning and listing the files after 10-20 minutes. If another share is then selected the same happens again.

Problem doesn't occur when connecting from my laptop, also XP.

I'm seriously considering reinstalling tomorrow morning as this is driving me nuts!

Problem sorted so thought it worth mentioning how it was fixed in case anyone runs in to a similar problem.

XP Pro
W2K Server
Netgear DG824M router

After rebuilding the workstation and still having problems, I added a HOSTS file entry for the server on the workstation which has fixed it.

Any ideas why this made the difference?

I got a similar problem where my 98 machine can not see my XP machine but everything else can. Just confused.

Not sure why it made a difference. If you;ve got 2k server you're better off running wins and dns rather than using hosts files.

Not being my field of expertise as such, can anyone suggest a good guide to configuring wins/dns on the server? The router provides dhcp services so how do I run the two correctly (DNS forwarding etc)?
