Is it just me, or is anyone else unable to get either of these? Everything else seems to be in order...

Fine with me, except I keep getting a message from microsoft saying I need to update messenger, even though I don't use it

Managed to find another site to download from, which it is doing so now.... doubt the messenger service will work though.

I sent you a text Di, but this answers my question. I'm having the same problem still. I suggest you sign up with an alternative free, local rate isp for this sort of eventuality. I'm with BT Openworld but there are loads around - and now that the evening/weekend rate is just 6p for a whole hour then its still pretty cheap
