General moan:

Why is my computer so slow? It can't even play CDs without stuttering.

I have tried all my tricks to get it to go faster but to no avail!!

My one at home runs much faster and is technically much less powerful.

End General moan.

No virus, or virus checker. Checked over network. Just pants.

Try control+alt+delete and see what's running in the background.

Too many applications running (lack of available memory), CD or CD-ROM needs cleaning, lack of availble diskspace for swap files, hard-drive needs defragging, an application which has been running has failed to terminate properly and has frozen resources? It's a Thursday? It could be a myriad of things.

Just the essential stuff. Think the computer's just poo. It should be fast: Dual 2.4Ghz P4, PC 3000 RAM and Quadro 900GXL graphics. But no. Pants.

Doesn't usually stop your PC from being slow if you have network virus protection. Try fiddling with the settings to exclude your music program from virus checking.
