Is the modem syncronised with the exchange? ie no flashing lights, just 2 constant ones (Power n sync lights) depending on what modem you have!.
Did they get you to use the test user account??
Have you paid this month
Let me know and ill see what i can do!

Red adsl light?????
Is it always red cos the ones i have seen are green??
That could mean that it aint synced to exchange.. Freeserve cant do a line test remotely, all they do is ping your modem. And thats usually full of bull as are the guys on helpdesk.
I assume that you checked the leads. and have no other equipment on your usb ports???
May be worth noting that BT have 48hrs to START to investigate the problem, dont mean it will be sorted in that time! and they never let you know whats goin on. so me tyhinks pestering will help and make sure you quote the same ref number each time you call.

Has anything changed on the BT account (phone number, name on bill etc).

I lost my ADSL when my fioncee moved in and brought her phone number with her. Basically any changes to the account whatsover, and BT cease the ADSL.

You may be able to get your dialup costs back but thats about it. ive lost mine for about 2 weeks and only got my dialup costs back. If you look in the contract it pretty much says if it broke then we dont have to pay for anything (i have business broadband too!) The dialup costs are pretty much a good will payment!
If you complain enough then you may get a months rental free, but thats if you make a total pain of yourself and threaten to take business elsewhere if you can say they breached contract by faliure of service.

Goodluck and let me know how you get on either here or email!
