I've got Windows XP running on my new laptop and, to put it mildly, I don't like it. I'm fed up with not being able to run some of my older applications, and I can't afford to upgrade all of them. Is it possible (and if it is, how easy is it) to partition my hard drive and run an older version of Windows in tandem, just for those occasions when I need to use the older programs?

I'm sure it must be possible, but I don't think I'd know where to begin.

You could get a program called partition Magic8, (only £25 from Amazon.co.uk!), Once installed, Partition Magic can partition your hard drive and show you how to install more than one operating system.
it's quite an easy program to use, I think that may be your answer.

Have you tried right clicking on the program Icon, choose properties and click on the 'compatability' tab. You have the Option to run programs as far back as Windows 95, worth a go anyway..

XP has compatibility modes - as posted above, just right click the program file, click on the compatability tab, and select the OS mode you need.

It should work all fine.

Thanks for all these . . . I'll give the compatibility tab a go first.
