rebooted for no reason

Just looking at a few posts on PH and the computer decided to reboot its self for no reason ? no error report and no virus's found ???? so why did it do it ???

Anything in the logs at all ?
Don't know what OS you run - gissa clue

sorry is windows XP , nope cant find anything that caused it to shut down

You may have a power issue. Installed any new hardware of late? Any funny noises from your power supply? cooling fans?

That's where I would start...

(wihtout knowing more about mb, chipset, cpu, ram, etc)

Could be overheating, causing a safety reboot....mine did it a couple of times when 100%cpu for a couple of hours....increased the safety temp in the BIOS and carried on

Both mine and the wifes PC's starting rebooting for no reason at all. Tried all the usuals like updating drivers etc.... anyway, turned out to be dust in the case was causing overheating / errors on the mainboard. It was caked in the stuff and a damn good clean corrected that and havent suffered a reboot since...

Oh, and we are not some scuzzers or something - we had an extension built and its all building dust..!! Honest...
