desktop icons

how do i get rid of them? I know i need to set it as a web page, but i just want aq back ground picture, no icons. I cant remember how i did it, using win 2000 profesional.

Right click in a space on the desktop.
Active Desktop.
Unlick Show Desktop Icons.

You can put the hole desktop on the taskbar,i've done it but forgot hw sorry not much use

Right Click on the Toolbar
Toolbars
Select Desktop
