MIDI no sound anymore on playback

Strange one this. All audio and video can play on a dekstop PC running XP Home. Except Midi files, just complete silence.

Double click on a midi track, Media player open up (as usual) but no sound, does open and play the right length of midi track just no noise at all??????

File associations seem ok but this one has me stumped.

Just fixed it, thought I'd try opening the media player option and making sure the midi option was ticked on playback, it was. However never trusting MS type things, I un-checked it, then checked it again and clicked apply & OK.

Now it's working. Bloody typical isn't it?
