GTA Vice City on GeForceFX5600
Discussion
Morning all, hope you all had a nice weekend driving around in the sun?!!
I have a slight problem. A friend and I built our new computers this weekend. They are the same spec and he bought GTA Vice City. It's running on an Athlon 2600+ with a Geforce FX5600 8xAGP 128mb graphics card. The only problem is, the graphics are messing up after about 3 minutes of playing. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Direct X 9.1 is installed as suggested asd we have tried it on both XP and 98se, both have the same problems. Does anyone know if this has been reported before?

First of all make sure you have the most up-to-date Display Drivers installed
www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp
Then make sure you have DirectX 9 installed (should be on the Vice City CD).
Also there is a patch out for vice city to fix a few graphic problems but I cant seem to find it (I did read about it some were ).
This is taken from the Vice City website -
I have a GeForce FX video card and I'm having strange graphic problems.
This has been found to work on computers with the Geforce FX series of cards. You need 4345 drivers to have the game run correctly. Make sure you have these drivers, then do the following:
1) Right Click on your desktop
2) Click Properties
3) Go to the Settings Tab
4) Click the Advanced Button
5) Then Click the GeForce FX (X) Tab - (X meaning the type of card you have)
6) When the little slide panel pops out click on Performance and Quality
7) Look at Intellisample, It's the top option
8) Change the slider from QUALITY left to APPLICATION
And you are done. intellisampling forces a kind of texture rate. when the option is turned on quality geforce will do its own work to mess with the texture rate. when you switch it to application, your applications or in this case GTA Vice City will do what it was made to.
Edit to add: patch can be found here http://play.game.net/Games/Download.asp?file=ftp://ftp.game.net/pub/games/othergames/gtavicecity/official_patches/vicepatch_11.zip
