As started. C drive was showing on File explorer along with the USB stick ,when installed D, and an SD card in the reader as E

C drive has now gone walkabout, but the D and E 'drives' still appear, but apart from getting to see it via the Win Key + R.. it just a temporary appearance

I have gone through the whole gamut of recommendations on google, but none seem to get it back on the LH side of file explorer.

IIRC this did also happen sometime ago, but the solution cannot be recalled, apart form it was quite an easy procedure

Any thoughts, and please beasr in mind, that once you get past very simple explanations i am lost...
Thanks

My thoughts too.

Try starting in BIOS/UEFI and check the boot order.

Remove the external media devices.

Mr E and skyebear

apologies for temp silence....busy weekend

The laptop is working ok with and with USB and SD cards in drives D and E

hopefully from the following pics (being sent via my phone as i cannot seem to get the screens shots on the laptop, which i am using at present), someone will be able to explain why the only C drive details are missing

Can't see your images.

However, if your laptop is booting then would seem the C: drive is there.

If you click on Documents in File Explorer does that work? If you right click on Documents, does it show it's location as being on the C:\ drive or somewhere else?

Right click below where it says 'Network' in the left hand column of File Explorer.

Tick 'Show This PC'

You win typo of the week.

Have you tried putting C:\ in the address bar (easy way, go to the D:\ and change the letter to C)?

That'll tell you if it's just hidden or inaccessible.

Seems like 'This PC' got unticked in your view options somehow. Usually this is achieved by group policy, but doubt it's that in your scenario!
