BT ONT Modem power tip size? ( cont of last discussion)
Discussion
Could someone help confirm quickly if they know the tip size of the ONT ?
Just wondering if I can get away with something like a 5M extension
5.5 x 2.1mm
Last visit too busy to actually stop and check with the guy and they were pretty distant, thinking to cover a few bases with next visit with a 2 way extention if needed but hoping I can just run the thin extension for 5v etc instead but I need to know the tip size matches the common camera device sizes
Openreach have a few different models of ONT. All that I have seen use a 12V connection, centre positive, 2.1mm.
I've used something like this before, when Openreach didn't put the ONT in the correct place within a comms room and I needed to get power to it from a UPS in the network cabinet.

That's exactly what I was thinking - thanks!
I will also need to sort out a network cable between router where it is currently to the optical modem but that is not an issue. This is why they push for 2 sockets but I think this will do ok, I will have an extension on standby just in case anyway.
