My previous torch Maglite style worked on duracells which was fine, they last a year and all was good and its big enough to use as a weapon if we get burglars.

Now totally lost it so looking at the market which seems flooded with makes I have never heard of and are made in China and have visions of recharging a Chinese model and seeing it explode etc, so would rather stick with 3 or 4 large Duracels.

Or am I worrying over nothing?

I have a few Nebo torches which seem okay, mostly rechargeable.

Bearing in mind pretty much everything is made in china, even if you bought it in a "UK" shop, yes, worry not.

Also remember that most "Chinese" battery fires you read about are / were hoverboard and scooter devices with BIG lithium batteries in harsh environments.

All of us flying big RC helis and the likes have sourced all our batteries from....China.

Lithium battery fire risk rises with battery size and most torches use a single small 18650 cell.

There is a difference between made in China and made by China. Stick with the big names from a proper shop and you'll probably be fine. Buy some XXXYXYZIAISMSO Ali Express special and perhaps not.

Ok thanks will trust in Amazon!

Bit of a minefiled looking though isn't it?....and some of the advertising for the million lumens "light up the moon" sounds unlikely! hehe

Perhaps not? They are all the same. The same cells, chargers, circuits.

My lion bike lamp
My carbon emtb
My toothbrush
My garden lights
My solar pond aerators
My phone
Your iphone
Etc etc

All made in china.
AliExpress is a drop shipper. That's it.

Buy st and you'll get st.

Charging 18650s isn't hard and china are the largest manufacturers by a large margin.

AliExpress absolutely sell some st. As do ebay sellers, and Amazon.

Buying "big brand". Name me a few and let's see how much of a price difference there is.

Aliexpress aftercare is as easy as amazon and far easier than eBay.

Aliexpress pay for your return postage to a UK site. If you parcel is not delivered they automatically refund after a certain time. They sell the very same staff as amazon and eBay. Most is delivered within 7 days, this is the only downside to amazon and often quicker than eBay

Oh I know know. I had two incorrect items last week. Full refunds, no return needed. However , there is a monthly cap on returns.
