Working in tech for blddy donkeys year but losing the will to live with this.

Macosx that to be honest has had it's glory days (13 inch 2017)

I have mega issues with browsing websites.

For example followed a link on here with a hidden url to a google page, just sits there loading....I go into another tab google the word, click the hit and it opens, go back to the original tab and it's still trying to load it!!!

I've changed DNS on my router but still the same.

Anyone got any ideas?

Clear browser cache?

Don't click on unknown links, wherever they may appear.

Brave's a bit bloated and heavy for a machine that age, I'd go with Firefox and the uBlock Origin extension.

Safari on the Mac does try to limit redirects, under the auspices of security.

Just in case it's due to older software, can I check what version of Safari/MacOS you're running (I'm on Tahoe 26.2 and Safari 26.2).

But as others have said, use another browser. I have Brave, Vivaldi (basically Opera without the spy/advert/cryptoware), Edge, Firefox (a bit bloated), Waterfox (sleeker version of Firefox) and Tor Browser installed so that I can setup specific browsers for different workloads (i.e. general browsing, secure browsing, browsing with ads to support favourite websites, Edge for Virgin TV Go).

Do you have Apple Private Relay turned on? It's a Safari/iCloud setting. Try disabling it, I have it set to 'trackers only' as it had been messing with my browsing.
