Wfh today and about 2pm I notice my VPN has disconnected. This is a pain in the arse as it means I've relinquished my CAD license back to the servers and can't save my work.

Anyway, reset my router but no Internet connection.

Go to check the vodafone website on my phone and its also down. Check "down detector" and theres a massive spike of about 140k reported outages so far within the last 2hrs... yikes.

Broadband down at about 14:45. Website down. Tried the support number and it says phone is turned off .

Looks like no more work today. If it’s not fixed soon, I ll have to go into the office tomorrow.

Edit: Three is still working, although I believe they now share the Vodafone network.

Not looking good atm.
Bets on the likely cause?
Fat fingers / "terrorist" states?

My first thought was a malicious attack, but who knows.

Looks like tracing to www.vodafone.co.uk doesn't resolve, someone made a DNS error.

Hackers seems to be the flavour of the month for these things surely ?

For the Broadband AND mobile Data to be taken down (yet oddly not telephone itself) seems to indicate something serious.

Home broadband is Vodafone, luckily mobile is another unaffected network.

Unfortunately little or no network signal in the house. Phone is now on a window cill and I'm getting 0.5M download.

BBC are now reporting it : https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c5yldldx659o
