I know little about mobile phone cameras. I'm after a budget, under £500, android mobile for decent video. Pref. 4K, but FHD at a push. Anyone any ideas?

For Android - I'd go Pixel 8 Pro: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Google-Pixel-Pro-smartpho...

If you fancied iPhone (iOS) - I'd go 14 Pro: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Apple-iPhone-14-Pro-128GB...

You’d be better off with a GoPro 13 Hero Black (unless you need it a new phone) that offer 5.3k and lots of other video settings/features compared to a phone. Available for £329 on the GoPro website. Get the free for a year subscription and there are discounts on accessories too.

Thanks for that. I'm a bit nervous of refurbished equipment and the life expectancy of the security updates seems a bit iffy. Some reviews are less than complementary of refurbished.

I've had an email about Nothing, the 3a. The camera specs look good and the price even better, but I know nothing about Nothing and I know no one who has any experience of them.

Thanks for that, Phil. I do need a new phone, and that's why I'm considering one with a camera. I have a compact, but it's been purloined by a granddaughter and I'm missing having a decent camera on me at all times. I will look at the GoPro. There's a camera shop near me that's a stockist.

Pretty much ANY new half decent Android phone will have excellent 4k video recording these days. (I tend to turn mine back to 1080 as I don't need 4k and its file sizes). Look for cameras with seperate zoom lenses - makes a world of difference if used often.

I've found the Moto range of phones to have great cameras - just got a Moto Edge 50 Neo. The cameras are amazing, and the phone is a decent size (smallish with big screen). Pocket money price too. I bought it mainly on camera specs.
