My Samsung S21+ is getting a bit leggy. It's got a fair few scratches and marks all around the device. The battery is incredibly poor and being the 128GB model, I'm running out of storage constantly. I'm also moving to a bigger house shortly, so my outgoings need to be smaller for a few years to match. Well, seems like the perfect time to upgrade, but sadly I don't have £1,000 to do so.

Step in the Nothing Phone (3a) & (3a Pro).
The only difference between the two spec wise is the pro has an esim and better cameras. While cameras are relatively important, shots from the standard (3a) look on a par with my S21+.

I feel rather drawn to them. Spec wise they both seem great for the price, and even the 3a seems to have semi decent cameras. 12GB ram, 256GB storage, Snapdragon 7 gen 3, 3 major Android updates and 6 years of security updates all for £379 for the (3a). Seems pretty decent.

I'm curious, anyone here using a Nothing Phone? How's the general consensus of the UI? I do like OneUI, but my phone is now rather leggy, and my experience with Samsung A phone's has never been particularly positive.

My good friend at work has a 3a now in blue, got it 2 weeks ago. (and very kindly gave me his outgoing Pixel 8!)

It looks physically beautiful, and in person/on screen the camera's still look fab. Although by his own admission he didnt buy it for the camera, it takes good enough images for him.

I think the only difference in them is the camera and some other minor things, which aren't deal breakers for him. It's a shame you probably couldn't go to anywhere to play with one side by side to be sure.

The UI is very minimal. Looks lovely on the 120hz screen, and has several AI features that work quite well from the brief play I had. Couldn't say if it'll last the course though, but I'll know if it doesn't!

Sounds like a good friend! The main reason I'm a little hesitant is purely the cameras. The Pro sorts that out but it doesn't look that great, and it's £100 more, which is a bit of a stretch.

Still mulling this one over, and probably will for a few weeks yet!
