I've moved house and my 5G modem router isn't covering the floor plan.

Wired access points aren't really an option so what are the alternatives?

I'm thinking those plug in powerline devices but is there anything better?

My only must is that the setup uses the same SSID and doesn't create multiple networks.

Sounds like a wifi mesh setup will solve the problem. No unique SSIDs unless you want them. In my old place I had a Nokia mesh which worked brilliantly.

I got these:

And actually appear to work pretty well. I’m a complete ignoramus with anything IT and they were pretty easy to set up.

I would also go with mesh. My Deco setup works well for covering the house and garden and you can define whatever SSID you want. Lots of options available depending how much you want to spend with the fancier models having dedicated backhauls to the router the latest WiFi standards

Mesh might work, but it depends on the layout. If your device can't get a good signal at a certain location, adding a mesh node at that location won't help too much. They have better radios but not by much.

The nodes should be close enough to get a good connection between each other, ideally all nodes only one hop from the main router.

I've always found powerline devices a bit meh, better than no connection at all, but only just.

I've got a Huawei 5G CPE Pro 2 using WiFi 6 which should work fairly well with a mesh setup.

The above linked Deco X55 looks a decent bit of kit - any other suggestions?

You don't need to spend a lot. I've had these for the last 2 1/2 years and while the app's a bit basic they've been flawless;

They now do a wifi 6 version for not much more money;

And a slightly more powerful version;

I went for the TP Link Deco in the end.

A nightmare to setup as they wouldn't operate in the way I intended (access points).

Switched them to router mode via wired backhaul and we're golden.

Very impressed in the coverage they provide, fast and stable.
