Windows 11 issue and laptop start up

Hi all
My parents have a Lenovo laptop running W11. Tonight mum said she had broken it and when she tries to switch it on she gets an error message about switching it off too many times.
I have done a bit of Googling and this does in fact seem to be a fairly common W11 issue and is something do with the pin login screen.
What I haven’t found is a definitive way to fix it with various MS “experts” putting forward ideas. My parents are a long way from me and not massively IT savvy and I can’t just pop around so was hoping that there was something they could try over the phone/FaceTime type thing.
I have told them to switch it on, don’t type anything into the pin box and leave it for at least 2 hours and then try.
Beyond that I am left with an attempt to boot to safe mode or further into repair/restore but is there anything before this?
Any thoughts?
