Mrs Fox's machine

Had to turn off mains power tosay
Now her little baby will not connect back to the sky network
My laptop is ok as is my phone
Followed all the 'reset' instructions Get a blue tick against the network , input correct pw but get the mesage underneath 'no network connection'

Apples answer is send it for repair,, but it was working ok prior to turning of the mains power

Any suggstions, black arts etc to get this damn thing reconnected to internet?
TIA

First I'd do is

Turn iPad off

Turn off the internet router and any extenders

Wait 30 seconds

Turn them back on

When all the lights are sorted turn on the iPad.

If that doesn't work

Create a hotspot with your phone and try and connect to that

Then if that doesn't work back up iPad and do a full reset.

If it still won't connect it is probably buggered

When you say you did the reset, do you mean the Reset of the network settings in the ipad?

Now am in panic mode, followed all the instructions to do a reset network settings, twice, with no success on the third attempt hit reset all settings ,it did say no date will be lost. Mrs Fox is spitting feather as it seems a lot of the stuff is now missing.
On Windows you can do a recover to previous date move... Is this possible on Apple?

The wifi 'page' shows a blue tick against the SKYXXXX network but will not accept the pw
Sh has an iphone but i am not at all familiar with Apples workings is there anything that she can do with that to assist getting back into wifi on thw ipad and more important recovering the stuff now 'missing'

She is not on icloud or whatever it is called, would it asll be there even if she hasnt used it?

an update

She cannot access the internet on the Iphone. Does one 'no connection' problem affect another piece of the Apple Empire?

Have you turned the router off then turned all the other devices off as suggested above?

After a power cut last month, my iPhone wouldn’t connect to internet. It was fine connecting to my wifi, but no internet connection. all my other devices worked fine.

So, try this: (iPad might differ slightly but you’ll get the gist)

It could be the dns server entry has been lost - seems that directly after the power cut my troubled iphone reported a wrong dns server)

Go into wifi settings.
Click blue info i button
Scroll to configure dns
Click manual instead of automatic
Add a new dns entry which you’ll find on your other iPhones that work in your house etc
Click save
Then click back to auto
Fingers crossed this works for you.

Do you have a mesh WiFi system at home? We used to get loads of issues of rejected passwords on certain apple devices due to what seemed to be a poor or conflicting WiFi signal from multiple access points (Linksys velop), particularly after power interruptions affecting the order points connected to the main router. All cured now by direct cat6 cabling between access points. In your case, you may just need to restart the (WiFi) network to sort it out (for now, at least!).

It is just a standard sky router

Followed reset instruction for both options
The DNS ob the iphoe is the samew as the Ipad ( whaever a DNS is!!I) I am not computer savvy,as you can tell.
Ig the manual are at the Janet and John level of understanding ..click this, move cursor to, etc i can get along fine, but most if the stuff is beyond my comprehension,it is just the way my brain works!!!

I am most happy working my miller and Lathe and being knee deep in swarf......lol

Did you turn of both apple devices when the router was turned off?

Then back in when the router was back up?

Although having said all that it does sound like you've fked the device settings anyway.

Me too! I don’t know what DNS is either, I found that tip online when I googled when my phone did what yours did - I’m also much happier tinkering with physical things!

Sure someone will be along to help soon - PH have a few a good techy types!!
