Which phone out of these?
Discussion
It's time to replace my excellent 6 yr old Samsung s20, which is getting glitchy and now with poor battery life.
My kids tell me to get apple, but I tend to like the less obvious choices and value. Currently looking at:
Pixel 8 Pro £479
One plus nord 4 £ 459
One plus 12 £649
Both One plus phones have double the storage and more ram bit I think the pixel probably has best camera, which would be important.
Other than that I would use it for general usage- no gaming or anything.
Any thoughts on which I'd the best buy please?

I restarted my Oneplus 8T, it never came back. Dead.
My Oneplus 10 Pro doesn't like major upgrades and wants to be defaulted after or it slows down and eats battery. I couldn't honestly recommend them, despite thinking they're great when working.
As above, the pixel or nothing options. Or, blow the budget out of the park, pixel 9 pro fold.

I’d get a S25 in your case. Samsung has a particular way of doing things, once you are used to that, why change, especially when their phones are acknowledged to be some of the best.
Or Pixel 9 Pro, the small one.
Pixel 8 Pro is HUGE. Will be a noticeable size up from your S20.
Oneplus, they were caught violating the terms of their service and sending detailed user data back to servers in China. Wouldn’t trust them after that. Mind you Google isn’t much better.

Same problem, swore I was never going to get another OnePlus as my 7 Pro was a buggy mess and all my issues seemed to be common problems as far as the old (now removed) OnePlus forums were concerned, which was a shame as my OnePlus 3 was superb, however friends with the 8 Pro swore by it.My Oneplus 10 Pro doesn't like major upgrades and wants to be defaulted after or it slows down and eats battery. For me I've been considering a Nothing 3a or even a CMF, but will wait till my 10Pro battery life gets even worse and maybe by then the CMF2 will be out.
I won't touch OnePlus ever again since the sneaky and illegal uploading of user activity despite users opting out.

Blimey, that was a story about the 3T which I wasn't aware of! I was a year into OP5 ownership when they got caught again, they just can't help themselves can they? Anyway that experience put me of any Chinese tech products and Chinese goods in general (which is quite difficult nowadays)https://www.chrisdcmoore.co.uk/post/oneplus-analyt...

S25 is 799, quite a bit more than other options suggested. I moved from Samsung to Nothing phone this year and transition has been easy, phone performs as I need for half the price of a Samsung.Or Pixel 9 Pro, the small one.

I just bought a OnePlus 12 from eBay. It was cheap because you get a two pin charger and adaptor. I could have had a 13 but it would have arrived while I was on holiday so 12 it was.
The camera is really good. I've had a 6 and an 8T before and this is streets ahead. Never had any issue with OnePlus and the processors have always been better.
Apple phones drive me insane trying to operate them.

Good points. I use a mid range phone as well these days, they more than good enough. Wasn’t the case even 5 or 6 years ago, I’d always get the flagship.LuS1fer said:

I really like the idea of a Nothing phone next. I'll likely wait for the Phone (3) that'll be released later this year, but the newly released Phone (3a) devices look fantastic. The Pro version is the same spec wise, just has a better camera. The standard (3a) is available for £329 with 128GB storage, but I'd opt for the 256 as it also comes with 12GB memory.

I thought I would post my 1st impressions of the pixel 8 pro to assist anyone who stumbles on this thread.
Is it a big upgrade? Well, it's a screen you can touch.... Brighter than the S20, but it doesn't blow me away.
It's obviously much larger, too large for 1 handed use with my child size paws. But that's fine for my usage. I don't have a tablet, so end up watching YouTube on it, so the extra screen is great.
It also seems to have sharp edges, which can be a bit uncomfortable.
It's clever, but again, not groundbreaking. Haven't had a chance to try the cameras really.
Very pleased with the battery. Overall, I'm very happy with it.
