They're both much better value...
  • from £529 for the RX9070 which has better performance than the £529 RTX5070 (but we're seeing most at more like £649)
  • from £569 for the 9070XT which has similar performance to the £750 RTX5070Ti (which is more like £850)
This is of course assuming we don't see extra costs due to tariffs like we have with the paper launched 50-series.

Overclockers is the only one with prices I can see.
Ebuyer and scan have listings only.
See if I can get one tomorrow.

Some decent competition in the mid range at last however the problem with the AMD cards is the poorer feature set - DLSS 4 is by far the best upscaler (even versus the soon to be released FSR 4) and frame generation (like it or loath it) can be useful in certain types of games. Additionally the Nvidia cards still have a ray tracing advantage.

The Linus review showed FSR4 to be better than DLSS4 in certain titles. Are there plans for a card to go up against the 5080?

My current setup is a Ryzen 5600x paired with a 3080, and my main games are Total War Warhammer 3 & Cyberpunk, I play at 3660x1440, and the 3080 just about manages Cyberpunk, although the latest update seems much more CPU intensive than previously, in high density crowds I'm seeing CPU usage of 80-90%, so I did start considering a new PC build.

Although in reality when GTA6 drops I'll be all over that on the Xbox for quite a while.

I would reserve judgement on FSR4 vs DLSS4 until FSR4 is officially released and widely reviewed but the comments I’ve heard from Digital Foundry suggest while it’s a huge improvement on FSR3 it’s still behind. And there are multiple sources I’d believe before Linus.

I started a new build with a 9800X3D intending to get a 5080 but decided to go 5090 on seeing the lacklustre 5080 performance. I cancelled the 5090 pre order yesterday based on the potential 3 month wait and the myriad of Nvidia issues. Current plan is to keep my 3090 until the likely 5080 Super/Ti. The current GPU market is a shambles.

Still showing as sold out, unless I've missed the boat already.

Probably not available until the US wakes up. So none of the naughty yanks can buy them from here first.

Unlikely to sell out just like that - https://videocardz.com/newz/uk-retailer-confirms-s...

Edited to add, here you go - Launch Date and Time: March 6th, 2025 at 6AM Pacific Time 8AM Eastern Time and 2PM in UK.

As said, 2pm launch. I may partake in a white one. Should be able to get £300 for my 3080 so it could be a good upgrade for £350. And a good jump in VRAM from 10GB to 16GB.

Some of the pricing on OC is odd.

The PowerColor Reaper is £570, whereas the Red Devil is £800, surely it can't be that much faster for an extra 40% cost?

As the poster above, I'm running an RTX3080, if I can sell that for £300 and grab one of the XT's for under £600 it seems like a no brainer, especially with the availability of the Nvidias.

Same here. My 5700xt amazes me how it has continued to run newer stuff at 1440p at reasonable fps - albeit with no ray tracing and slightly overclocked. Even in Cyberpunk it gets 60fps most of the time at between medium-high settings.

Certainly had my money's worth but definitely due an upgrade.

I must admit I really don't care much for ray racing but it would be nice to be able to use them

It handles Cyberpunk 2077 at 1440p, ultra settings with ray tracing and quality upscaling very well. (Indiana Jones and the great Circle and Blackmyth Wukong are outliers that might need a driver update perhaps).

So the summary seems to be spend the extra £50 (if you can get anything at RRP) and go for the 9070XT.
