Free effective ad free OCR windows 10 'app'

Any recommendations for free, ad free, spyware free, good win 10 compatible OCR software please?

Want to extract text from densely text packed pdf files derived from jpegs.

I think Google docs does it, and I even believe Microsoft have a free one to download. Can't remember what it's called, though.

If you have excel then it does OCR from an image.

Word does it if you have 365.

I think ChatGPT etc will do it as well.

Text Extractor is one of the free Windows Powertoys a suite of useful applications (also includes mouse without borders, power rename and advanced paste to name a few others). I install this on all the windows machines I have access to.

I've installed PowerToys and managed to get OneNote to work without a MS account.

With OneNote I can text search a jpeg image successfully.

My scanner can do OCR as well but isn't configured to work with an OCR programme as I don't have one installed.

Doesn't seem to recognise OneNote so I'll have a play to see if I can tell OneNote to import files from my scanner.
