Directional, long distance WiFi
Discussion
I need something to temporarily give me access to a distant (100 metres) WiFi.
I have to work from a garden room for about a month while work is happening.
Ideally I'd like some sort of directional unit that I can point at the house that has a standard RJ45 network outlet that I can plug my MacBook into.
I will cable if necessary, but would prefer a new toy
Thanks

I bought a pair of these 2-3 years ago to get wifi around my farm. I installed them, set them up and have never had to touch them again... they have been utterly faultless. I have full speed internet between the "air bridge", couldn't recommend them enough, but you would need a direct line of sight. I have them mounted on two buildings with the poles which you may get separately.

I used a couple of these to cover a long distance. Not using them any more if you are interested?

Excellent pieces of kit. Need aligning nicely, but work well.

£50 for the pair, Amazon.
I use them for a 100m link, through many trees. Been working perfectly for around 5 years or more. One on the wall of the house, one on a long pole at the far end, powered by a 12v car battery and solar

Can you just lash a CAT6 cable in if it's only for a month?
For just a month, I'd be looking at running an ethernet cable too, or powerline, or seeing if a mesh device will reach. If you already have e.g. Deco mesh, I can get a signal between two Deco mesh devices at around 100m outdoors.okgo said:
