iPhone 16 or Samsung S25

Hi all,
Interested for your thoughts - I've been running an iPhone 13 Pro Max since launch day in 2021. I've generally loved it, but its a bit worse for wear. Photos look rubbish, the battery lasts half a day, and it doesnt run like it once did. My contract is up at the end of Feb, so I'm looking to replace.
The obvious choice would be the 16 Pro Max, especially given how much I'm using the "ecosystem" apps. But I can't really bare spending more than I did on my first car for a phone which seems almost identical to the one I already have. Launch reviews seem to hit the point too, lots of the videos I watched said it was functionally the same as the 15, which was very similar to the 14, etc etc etc
I find myself quite intrigued by the new S25 ultra, and I think a change would be interesting. Not too keen on all the AI stuff personally, but the camera and screen look stunning from the reviews. Losing airdrop would be a pain, but I could probably live without the other apps.
Am I wrong in thinking the iPhone 16 isnt much different to the 13? Or would a change of scenery in the Samsung be a better use of my hard earned?

Options I'd be looking at are the iPhone 16, S25 and Pixel 9.
Do you need the "pro" and "max" versions, for example you can get the Pixel 9 in 9 , 9 pro and 9 pro XL.

Camera on the 16 Pro is excellent, you'll definitely see a difference and the battery will last nearly 2 days if you're not battering it all day. Mine's usually got 50% left at 11pm having been taken off charge at 6am. Pro Max will be better but the size scuppers it for me.
I tried to leave Apple this time around for a Samsung Flip but it didn't last long and it's now in a drawer, just couldn't get on with it.
