Just a heads up / awareness rather than anything else - for those who use the WeBuyAnyPhone price comparison site when selling your tech they’ve recently started signing up everyone that sells via them to CyberSentry - which is essentially Norton VPN.

They are using the bank details you enter on agreement of sale for the direct debit with one month free, but not sending any details of the signup or free trial nor DD guarantee etc.

I only found out today when I got the 24hr pre-notice of the £6.95 DD from my bank and cancelled it.

CyberSentry say it’s an opt in/out thing but I really cannot recall opting in at all and am pretty good with these things normally and well versed (avoiding prime etc.)

Feels quite underhand and there are a few posts from ActionFraud where this specific approach has been reported to them.

At what point did you think this website/organisation was anything less than completely dodgy?

They've likely sold your details to all and sundry.

This is the equivalent of shagging someone you know is riddled... Some people are their own worst enemy.

TBF I had used them multiple times without any issue at all over the years (probably 20+ times thinking about it) - they are a screen-scraper to get the best price for your device and sometimes thats from companies you may never have heard of.

Until this there was nothing at all to suggest they were "dodgy" at all and given they have 32k+ reviews on Trustpilot and 72%+ are 4/5star and lots of the negative reviews historically are about people getting low-balled on devices - which is way beyond the control of the website anyways as its zero to do with them.
