Suaoki g7 lithium jump starter-replace leads?
Discussion
Apologies if this is in the wrong section
I've got a suaoki g7 lithium jump starter pack. When I connect the crocodile clips the red & green lights on the black crocodile clip flash red & green so i can't use it as a booster pack for my car
I've measured 12v at the output of the pack itself but don't get 12v at the crocodile clips
For the lead itself when disconnected, I get continuity from the red crocodile clip to the end of the male side of the ec5 plug, but I don't get continuity when I do the same to the black lead. I'm assuming theres a problem within the circuit board inside the black box on the black lead?
Would it be ok for me to buy a replacement lead with a ec5 connector like this:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/176622098560?mkcid=16&a...
Does.it need the polarity protection for safety?
Or Would it be best to buy a new jump starter pack?
It's only been kept in the car for emergencies & used as a power bank at the moment but I was thinking it would be handy for boosting the car battery if I need to during this cold weather

When you say “connect” - do you mean plug the adapter in, or connect to a battery?Have you got the instructions - maybe they’re supposed to flash?
I also wonder if your tests are valid - I’ve got a completely different kind of booster and it doesn’t work if connected to a pretty well dead battery because the polarity detection needs some volts to be there to detect!
Yes sorry wasn't clear. The leds flash red/green when the crocodile leads are plugged into the unit, as they should I believe? (Haven't the instructions but from YouTube videos I think that's correct?), but when I then connect the clips onto a dead battery, the led should then be green, but they stay flashing red & green indicating a problem
I've tried it on a couple of dead batteries & it's the same

I'm intrigued on what's in that little black box, despite only being connected to the ground wire, its able to light some leds even when there's no flow across the terminals.
Witchcraft I suspect
Does it do anything if connected to a working battery?
(The black wire in seems chonkier than the black wire out, I guess it actually carries live and ground...)

There is a fair amount of power running through those things.
On the basis that I wouldn’t want to be zapped by it, burn down the house while charging it or have it fail at the point of needing it, I’d buy a new one.
I bought the Noco gb 1500 from Amazon:

I have another model, same brand.
Yes, it’s a smart pack that won’t let you connect it the wrong way round.
Unless there is a minimum voltage in the battery, it won’t be able to detect that it’s been connected correctly.
You can override the safety setting though (at your own risk) - I think there is a button on it you hold down to disable the safety system.
