Synology Mapped drives not accessible
Discussion
Hopefully a quick fix.
Updated Win11 to version 24H2 last night, and just noticed the mapped drives for my Synology NAS are disconnected. They say incorrect username / password. They are correct and nothing changed
I have another laptop with the same mapped drives and it works perfectly, same with network access and mobile app.
Have the usernames / passwords simply been dropped in the update? if so, how do you input the username / password for mapped drives? I couldn't see a way of adding them or is there another way?

So I can see the Synology NAS in Win File explorer, but it only to takes me to the DiskStation IP log in page.
If I try and map any new drives in Win File explorer, the folders are not there to map.
All the original mapped directories are still there but show as 'disconnected' and I get the error 'incorrect username or password' when clicked.
Any ideas?

When mapping the drive from Windows 11, supply the username as NAS-DEVICE-NAME\username
(also select remember my credentials).
I can't map the drive as the NAS folders aren't showing in File Explorer.(also select remember my credentials).
I have done this a few times before and followed these steps-
1. Right click 'This PC' in File Explorer
2. Choose 'map network drive'
3. Choose drive letter
4. Highlight a NAS folder from the list to attached to the drive letter
5. Apply
However there are no folders to choose from at stage 4
All working perfectly from another PC
Having the same issue with my network drives connected though my Netgear router - haven't found a solution yet (only an issue on latest windows 11 release - linux machine can access them fine). Can still access via ftp and http but won't map the drives. Watching this thread to see if someone comes up with a solution (yes tried to force login name/passowrd access (supposedly it is only "guest" access that has been revoked by the update) but still refuses to map the drives). I tried the registry hack as well to no avail.

When you select Map Network Drive :-
Manually enter the folder name :- \\NAS-DEVICE-NAME\NAS-SHARE-NAME
Select :- Reconnect at sign in
Select :- Connect Using Different Credentials.
That should then prompt for the username etc as above.
What a star you are, a BIG THANKYOU Manually enter the folder name :- \\NAS-DEVICE-NAME\NAS-SHARE-NAME

I was starting to pull my hair out, having been trying 'stuff' for about 2-3 hours without success.
I've mapped one folder, and it looks like the others have fallen in.
I'll have a proper look in 10 minutes after a celebratory cup of tea.

The solution DRIVER64 has posted worked for me. Check his last post.Basically manually enter the NAS folder name when prompted when mapping the network drive in WIN File Explorer :-
\\NAS-DEVICE-NAME\NAS-SHARE-NAME

In Windows 10 the solution was in Windows File Explorer - View tab, Options, Clear File Explorer history & restore defaults. After that it started behaving itself.

Now reboot your computer and see if it still works....I had the same thing a while ago, and every time I restarted the PC it lost the mappings again.

Just checked and all still OK. I’ll keep your steps just in case though. Thankyou. In Windows 10 the solution was in Windows File Explorer - View tab, Options, Clear File Explorer history & restore defaults. After that it started behaving itself.
Looks like mine was an issue with the Win11 update to 24H2.
Hopefully this thread might help someone looking for a solution.
