I can highlight the items but right clicking does not give the options. Also tried ctrl + v then ctrl + C and that does not work either.

Ctrl+C is Copy

Ctrl+V is Paste

(As with Windows and many other operating systems).

Also on a Chromebook use two fingers to tap the trackpad and bring up the menu on the object you have selected. Also you can use alt+click the trackpad

Although I can highlight text / images, I cannot find the way to paste on a different page. Right click and ctrl + v do not paste or give a dropdown.

You'll have to provide detail.

Where are you copying from, what are you trying to paste into etc etc etc

You'll have to tell us what it is you are trying to do.

Copy & Paste is as straightforward with a Chromebook as it is with any other operating system, so we've no idea what you are trying to do so can't offer help without that necessary detail.

I've just done the above and it works fine.

I suspect you've complicated things for yourself by installing an android version of either Facebook or WhatsApp. Or maybe even both.
But I obviously can't say for certain.

If you have done that then I'd suggest removing those android apps and just using the the web app/progressive web apps. That's what I use and what you want to do works fine and without issue.

My WhatsApp web app is shown below;

If this is similar to the MS Outlook confusion I'm going to suggest you disable the Play Store on your Chromebook to avoid installing android apps.

In Chrome OS the best rule of thumb is;
1) Web Apps / Progressive Web Apps / Web Services
2) Android apps, but only if there is no other solution. The Play Store option doesn't add much to Chrome OS. It just adds flexibility, but causes too much confusion in my opinion with users new to Chromebooks.
3) Linux desktop apps. If you know Linux and use Linux desktop apps then you'll already know enough to be comfortable. If not then pretend it never existed.
