Hi All

A slightly basic question but I keep going round in circles!

At the office I have 3 x 27" 1080p monitors running off a desktop PC which I enjoy using and have a good workflow.

When I am at home I revert to the laptop (3840 x 2400 with 200% scaling) and an external 27" 1080p monitor. In reality I do most of my work on the monitor as flicking between the two sizes and resolutions doesnt feel comfortable. I'd like to upgrade this set up but would also like to keep it as simple as possible as I sometimes need to move the kit (if I had space I'd just replicate the office setup).

I've been wondering whether to buy one of the huge curved 34" 4k screens and run that or maybe a standard format 32" 4k screen? Having two windows open side by side would be helpful and maybe I keep the laptop closed then and just connect it to the monitor which everything else can hang off.

The laptop is a Lenovo X1 carbon with 11th gen i7 processor which is fairly modern so I assume it can drive anything.

Many Thanks!

Thanks! What resolution are you running? I guess you can get two documents open side by side without issue?

std resolution for 34@ UW is 3440 x 1440, x2 docs side by side is no issue

At the top end budget wise (>£1000) I would recommend a 5K2K single monitor (40”) - i use one at home and it is the equivalent of 4 x 1080P screens.

Three monitors is ideal, but a single ultrawide is better than just two monitors, as it can all be central with no join.

A 4kUHD is the equivalent of four 1080p screens - you've hot a load more pixels than that.

I have a pair of 32-inch 4k monitors on an arm so I can swing one right in front of me when I'm doing single screen work.
