Choosing / buying a mobile number
Discussion
My mobile phone number, which I must have had for 20-odd years, has recently been compromised in some sort of data breach. I’m continually getting harassed with computer generated robocalls and spam marketeers saying I’ve signed up for some bs or another.
As I can’t seem to stop or prevent these unwanted calls, I’ve bought a new SIM card with a new mobile number, however I have seen online that you can buy a memorable phone number, which I thought may be an opportunity to do so, as my phone is both for personal and work use and an easy-to-remember number would make some sense.
Has anyone bought their own mobile number? If so, do you recommend any companies that provide this, is it legit etc?
Cheers in advance for any help.

Why?Obviously you remember your own number but everyone else has your number in their contacts - they're not dialling it from memory.
Do you know you wife's mobile number from memory - I don't.

But why would you know his wife’s number?… Obviously you remember your own number but everyone else has your number in their contacts - they're not dialling it from memory.

No, don’t know my wife’s number as we divorced and I deleted it

Wow is chosing a mobile number still a thing!? I'd expect it would be reasonable to have 'gold' numbers for 0800 type non geographical business stuff though. I had the luxury of choosing my new fangled 3G Futures bright Orange mobile number about 30 years ago when they had their own number blocks separate from the two 2G outfits...
