I have just moved from BT to Talk Talk saving about £380 a year over the next 2 years so it is worth it but i have tried dealing with their online help desk without any luck so here goes.I have a Canon ts3355 printer which has WIFI and USB connection.However the Talk Talk router (an eero 6) only has WIFI or ethernet connection.Has anybody had this experience.I had to download an app on my phone for the router to work and wondered if it was any thing to do with the add profile on the app.Sorry if this is a bit long winded but i am not great with tech but i thought it best to give as much info as possible.

In the Canon app you need to add your phone to your new Eero 6 router / hub then it all should work

The profiles option in the Eero app is for grouping various types of connected devices to then apply some rules to them - as an example all my daughters devices are within a profile in my Eero home and that controls / limits what time her devices can access the internet / what is blocked / etc.

I have been running 4 Eero units for about 3-4yrs now and theyre great IME (started with TalkTalk but on Sky now with them)

The printer replaced an old HP photosmart printer but i never had to download an app either for the BT router or the new printer we just plugged it in and selected the new printer on our individual devices when we needed to print but thanks for this although i will probably have to get my son to help with this.
Just to give some idea of how bad Talk Talks help desk is i spent all day asking them about a signal splitter and ended up giving up and just plugging it in and hope it worked which it did.

I’m a bit confused with what you’re trying to do (or why it’s a talk talk problem)

Are you trying to put your printer on the network?
Most likely you need an app on your phone to communicate with the printer over Bluetooth to tell it what the wifi ID and password is. There’s probably guides online that can help.

Yes i do want to put the printer on the network.I went to Talk Talk because it seemed the logical way to go as the issue only arose after the change.The problem was just how difficult their online help (and i use the term loosely) chat is although they did manage to sort out my confusion about my bill.
Like i said i didn't have to download anything when i was with BT.

It’s nothing to do with TalkTalk at all.

When you plugged the printer into the router previously that’s why you didn’t need the printer app - now you don’t have that facility so you need to get the printer app which will then put the printer on your network as desired.

The old BT router was just a basic access point router - the Eero is a mesh device and is app-managed, that’s the essential difference.

The BT router was a Halo 3 full fibre to premises 500 meg download speed.True it had 4 or 5 ethernet connections but none of them were used for the printer as it has no ethernet but i will have a go at loading the app to my phone thanks.What i find annoying though is that i have to come here to get any sense when Talk Talk could have told me from the outset that it is not anything to do with them.

You have changed the WiFi settings on the printer to match those for the new router haven’t you?

You have to connect your printer to the new network. Look up the access point name and password for your Eero set up and plug those into your printer.

It isn’t a Talktalk issue.

Do you not have a niece, grandson etc who can show you how to do this? Its really simple.

On my Canon printer, I don’t even need an app. Just type this info into the printer display screen.

Before you changed your router, how was your printer connected? By WiFi or by USB to something? (ie your old router or a PC).
