2 PCs (old blue vga & HDMI) to 1 monitor?
Discussion
Hi, need bit of help.
Got a new PC and keeping the old one to try and learn a bit (as I'm totally illiterate with all things IT/tech/PC etc), and of course, I forgotton to check the outputs and now have a new pc and old pc which have different outputs/connections for the monitor - one is the old blue vga and the other is HDMI.
My Monitor has connections for both, I'm not looking for 4k HD, am happy watching youtube etc with 'basic HD' (1080p), which I believe the old style blue VGA cables are well capable of.
I'm guessing using an adapter to convert one to match the other then having these go to something like a KVM box/switch?
Any advice help greatly appreciated.
Thanks as always.
Look in the settings menus on the monitor - it will let you switch back and forth.
Depending on what you want to learn on the old PC, consider something like https://tigervnc.org/ or the equivalent to let you see the old PC's display over the network on the new one. Saves the inconvenience of flipping back and forth and having to shuffle keyboards etc around.

Thanks for the replies.
I got a new monitor aswell, my old monitor was older than my PC. Got a 'basic' Dell 27" and it's like a whole new world, along with new PC and OS for my old PC, no more 720p at best(!).
Yep, as stated above, it's possible to switch using the menu. Many thanks, saved me a couple of £.
